Mix Archive: Lost In Space
This mix means a lot to me. I put it together back in 1997, after listening to Scott Hardkiss play his masterful Essential Mix {link to it on Soundcloud}. I quickly tracked down some of the tunes he showed us - this magical God Within stuff. Wow(!) Gotta have some of that. It is also the first mix I really nailed. Recording on a tape. Yeah, old skool! I sent this demo out to Muzik Magazine which ran monthly competitions called Bedroom Bedlam. Winners have included Youssef and James Zabiela. I was placed 4th that month, so not bad for a snotty teenage fucking about with the vinyl…
Anyway, back to the mix. We start off with some deep/tribal progressive house, then move into some more pumping clubbier tracks. This moves onward between house and bassy tracks and starts to introduce some breaks. There is a fun big-beaty bit then we finish up with some cracking drum and bass. A bit of a musical journey. Love it!

Tactical Grace
Here is some beautiful, enchanting, deep, progressive and lush tech house. Punchy and bassy to begin with, develops some deep and progressive flavours (look out for the track in the middle with Modeselektor, Thom Yorke and Trentemoller all working together!) and then finishes with some chunky and funky house tracks. I think it’s a nice journey and I hope you do too!

Indistinguishable From Magic
Time for some sweet techno grooves. This starts off with some lush techy progressive techno flavours that build up into a nice pulsating energy. It breaks down into some more minimal and melodic tunes then slowly growls with energy into some killer techno. It finishes with some ridiculous, full on trancy ripper tunes. All in all the full package - get ready for some full on partying!

This is a live recording of me DJing at Incognito, Cardiff on New Year’s Eve 2001/2002. I used to spin there on the weekends - playing mostly classic and new house tracks. Mix Archive: The Day It All Changed
Back to the archive for another mix from the days of yore. This is a techno mix I put together on the 11th September 2001; hence to the horribly contrived title. Anyway, this is full of some beautiful techno tracks from around the time. It starts off in the Detroit vein, and pushes through to some cool underground UK sounds, with a smattering of acid techno. As before, I’m afraid I have no track list, but there’s stuff on there influenced or by Derrick Carter, Justin Robertson, Soma Records, Felix Da Housecatt, Timo Maas, Josh Wink and much much more. Ahh, back to some proper techno tunes. It’s been a while, I know! Here’s a 1.5 hour mix that starts off with quite chilled, progressive feeling techno tunes. It builds up through some quite dark and minimal sounds and finishes off with some pumping epic techno styles. Hope you enjoy!

Bat Country
To celebrate the summer and joining a new gym I have created a new hour long power mix for us to listen to when we do the right thing. I’ve called it Bat Country in honour of our dear friend Hunter, coz that’s how I feel in the exercise environment. “Don’t Stop Here! We’re In Baaaat Country!” Anyway, this should give you some energy to pump away at whatever you pump away at. Enjoy!
